Pre-K 4 Year Old

1. What do you teach at St. Mary’s Academy?

“I teach Pre-K 4.”

2. What do you love about St. Mary’s Academy?

“I love the feeling of belonging at St. Mary’s Academy. We are truly like one big family that I love being a part of.”

3.Why do you like teaching at St. Mary’s Academy? What motivated you to become a teacher here?

“I attended Catholic Schools in Rochester from kindergarten right up through high school. I loved the academics, the smaller class sizes (I was very shy!), and being part of a faith community. When I graduated from college, the Diocese was the first place I applied to teach because I missed those feelings. I taught for several years in Catholic Schools in Rochester before moving to Syracuse, at which point I taught at other facilities. When I was introduced to St. Mary’s by a friend of mine, it felt like being back at home and I knew I wanted to be a part of this wonderful school.”

4. What is a unique experience, talent, or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

“I love to have fun and be creative with my students! We always have music playing in our classroom, so it is not unusual to walk by and hear us singing while we are working or playing.”

5. What sets St. Mary’s Academy students apart from students in other schools?

“I think what sets our students apart from others is our sense of community. Our kids participate in community service projects on a monthly basis, but it is also a part of our every day life at St. Mary’s Academy. We talk daily about people in our world that need our prayers and we offer those intentions up each morning.”

6.What do you want your students to gain from having known you?

“I want my students to remember that I love them and I believe that they can do amazing things!.”

7. Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself? Perhaps a fun fact?

“Fun fact about me — in my “spare time” I can usually be found at a baseball field cheering on my baseball-loving boys! ”

This is my fourth year at St. Mary’s Academy. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Math from SUNY Fredonia. I spent 9 years teaching the Kinder Kids program at the Baldwinsville YMCA. I also taught preschool at Shining Stars Daycare Center, 2nd grade and 4th grade at Mother of Snows (Rochester, NY) and 5th and 6th grades at St. Helen’s School (Rochester, NY).
