Grade 2

1. What do you teach at St. Mary’s Academy?

“I teach second grade.”

2. What do you love about St. Mary’s Academy?

“I love many things about St. Mary’s Academy, but what sticks out to me most is our unique close-knit community. I love that through our small class sizes, I am able to develop meaningful relationships with all of my students and their families..”

3.Why do you like teaching at St. Mary’s Academy? What motivated you to become a teacher at St. Mary’s Academy?

“I wanted to teach for as long as I can remember, and I credit that to my positive experience as a student here at St. Mary’s Academy many years ago. SMA has a very special place in my heart, and it has always been a dream of mine to return as an educator.

“Throughout my college career, I was given the opportunity to return to St. Mary’s Academy and observe for a day. As soon as I returned, I knew this is where I wanted to be! I feel very blessed to be back, and know what a privilege it is to work with such amazing students, families, and faculty!”

4. What is a unique experience, talent, or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

“It is important to me that my students enjoy coming to school each and every day. I do this by creating what I hope is a warm and inviting environment, where my students feel comfortable to learn, be themselves, and ask questions.”

5. What sets St. Mary’s Academy students apart from students in other schools?

“Here at St. Mary’s Academy, we are fortunate to have a school filled with students who are eager to learn and do their best every day. Because of our smaller class sizes, the students quickly become like family. They are encouraging friends and positive support systems for each other. .”

6.What do you want your students to gain from having known you?

“It is important to me that all of my students feel safe and accepted in my classroom. My students quickly learn that I put more emphasis on the learning process than I do always having the correct answer. We learn through making mistakes, and we welcome those mistakes with open arms. Success isn’t measured by always having the correct answer, but by always putting forth our best effort! ”

7. Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself? Perhaps a fun fact?

“One fun fact about myself is that I was a student at St. Mary’s Academy, too! My students love to hear stories and see pictures from when I was in 2nd grade! ”
