1. What do you teach at St. Mary’s Academy?

“I am the Academic Intervention Specialist, Special Education Teacher, and Preschool 3 Teacher.”

2. What do you love about St. Mary’s Academy?

“There are many things that I love about St. Mary’s. I love that I can talk about my Catholic faith each day. I can incorporate my faith in to every subject I teach. I also enjoy collaborating with the fantastic teachers here. My AIS job allows me to work directly with all the teachers at our school. I like the many activities that are offered during the year. The school has a “family-like” atmosphere. The school activities like spaghetti dinners and dances allow families to come together for fun and help foster new friendships.”

3.Why do you like teaching at St. Mary’s Academy? What motivated you to become a teacher at St. Mary’s Academy?

“I like teaching here because I can teach my students about Jesus. I went to a Catholic elementary school and I loved how my teachers were able to incorporate Gospel messages and Jesus’ teachings into our every day school life. I have always wanted to teach at a Catholic school that prepares students not only academically, but spiritually.”

4. What is a unique experience, talent, or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

“I have always been drawn to music and dance. I like to sing to my students. My preschool students really enjoy the songs and dances we do together. I think the AIS students also like that I include music in lessons. I also play the flute. I’ve been lucky enough to share my flute talent at school masses and concerts.”

5. What sets St. Mary’s Academy students apart from students in other schools?

“I believe that St. Mary’s students have positive morals and values. This is because they grow in faith at St. Mary’s through the teachings of the Catholic Church. I think students here are also academically prepared for the future. The teachers here know how to meet the abilities of all learners.”

6.What do you want your students to gain from having known you?

“I want them to know that I absolutely love coming to school each day. I want them to know that I smile all day long because of them. I enjoy all of their personalities and talents. I want them to know how proud I am of their academic and spiritual growth each year.”

7. Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself? Perhaps a fun fact?

“A fun fact about me is that I love Disney World. I always tap dance in front of Cinderella’s castle during each visit. I’ve done this since I was a little girl. It has become a tradition.”
