Grade 5

What motivated you to become a teacher at St. Mary’s Academy?

“My motivation for becoming a teacher at St. Mary’s Academy all boils down to  one thing……home. I wanted to find a place that would be welcoming and supportive as I not only start over in a new state, but have to have to adjust to being so far from my family which is going to add new challenges. I felt that immediately upon arriving at St. Mary’s. From my interview to the first day of school, I was greeted warmly and with patients as I adjust to the new school culture.”

What is a unique experience, talent, or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

“I think the fact that I have a varied interest and skill set brings a lot to the classroom. I love being outdoors, exploring and playing sports, but I also love to be at home doing crafts and baking. I bring all this to the classroom to relate to my students and be able to make learning relateable to what they enjoy doing. ”

What do you want your students to gain from having known you?

“When students leave my classroom I hope they know that we all grow and learn at different rates, that we all fail, we all struggle, and it’s through perseverance and taking risks that we truly grow. I hope they know that I will be one of their big their biggest cheerleaders as they continue to grow and learn. ”
