Schools Helping Schools Campaign -
Thank you to all who contributed to the "Schools Helping Schools" campaign. We raised $411 to help our friends in the southern tier! Nice work everybody!
Thoughts and Prayers -
It is with great sadness that we, as a St. Mary's Academy community, mourn the loss of Ridge Barden a Phoenix Central School Junior. Our St. Mary's Academy students put together a 'Thoughts and Prayers' poster and all signed it. That, along with flowers and a donation was presented to Phoenix High School.
All Saints Day Concert -
This year, our 4th grade class did such a great job with their religion project that we were invited to put on our small concert - complete with costume! - at our neighborhood nursing home - Syracuse Home. Click here to see pictures!
Adopt a Family -
This Thanksgiving, St. Mary's Academy "adopted" a family and put together a Thanksgiving basket for a family of 7, with children ages 12 and up. Thank you to everyone for your generosity.
Syracuse Home Concert and Gift Distribution -
Every year, St. Mary's Academy reaches out to our neighbor Syracuse Home to spread the holiday cheer. In December, our 4th, 5th and 6th graders spread Christmas cheer by singing Christmas carols, and collecting and delivering gifts to the residents of Syracuse Home. In many cases, these are the only gifts the residents receive. It is a very moving experience for our students and our elderly neighbors.
Oxford Inn Sandwiches -
In December, our 5th and 6th graders made sandwiches for a local homeless shelter - Oxford Inn.
Pennies for Polio -
Our January Serice project will be "Pennies for Polio". Our students will be working with the Rotary to collect pennies for the eradication of Polio in the world. Each classroom will have a canister to collect the pennies. We will collect pennies for the month of January.
February Service Project -
Our students will be writing Valentine messages to send to the Syracuse Home, the VA Hospital, and the home bound of St. Mary's. Along with the letters to the Syracuse Home and the home bound, individuals will receive home-made Rosary Beads.
